A South Mumbai college, on Thursday initiated a two-day seminar on importance of energy audit in educational institutions on Thursday


A South Mumbai college, on Thursday initiated a two-day seminar on importance of energy audit in educational institutions on Thursday.

Brainchild of the life sciences department of the K C College, Churchgate, the seminar started with the presence of Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent charge for Coal and Petroleum, vice chancellor of University of Mumbai Sanjay Deshmukh among others. While the initiative begins at the K C College by conservation of electricity and water and solid waste management; the institute plans to take it forward to other colleges as well as university by sharing their plan.

Dr. Manju Nichani, principal of the college, said, "Not only energy conservation is the need of the hour, as an educational institution which is building next generation, it is our responsibility to set an example from which youngsters will learn so that we can hope for positive changes."

Talking about its plan to take it forward to other colleges, Convener of the event Sagarika Damle, said, "This is just first step. We will certainly not stop at implementing the initiative at our college. We are looking at taking it forward to other colleges by sharing our observations and experiences."
