Reddy had been arrested earlier along with MiD DAY reporter Akela and Mumbai Mirror photographer Raju Shinde, under the draconian Official Secrets Act (OSA) on charges of trespassing, in a case registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) against them.

Reddy was represented by eminent lawyer Hemant Ingale, who argued that the OSA was not applicable to
Reddy, Akela or Shinde.

Reddy said, "The authorities should punish their employees who are responsible for damaging exclusive weapons not me, Akela or Shinde."

Last year the CST GRP had registered an FIR against Reddy, Akela and Shinde.

Reddy had been arrested for allegedly helping Akela and Shinde publish an article in the daily Mumbai Mirror on how weapons, purchased after the 26/11 terror attacks, were gathering rust in the city's armoury due to water leakage.
