A 16-year-old was allegedly molested by four men at the railway tracks near Ambernath station on Wednesday. The police have arrested three and another is absconding. All accused are aged between 21 and 25 years.

On July 15, the girl met two schoolmates, aged 16 and 17, near Ambernath station at 3.15 pm, since she wanted to go to a college to collect admission forms. She met the two friends, and instead of taking the main road, they took a shortcut through an isolated area. The place of incident is near a company called DMC, and leads towards Moravli village, which is near the railway tracks.

While she was walking with her friends, four men - two of them on a bike - came towards them and beat up her friends.
They then they told the friends to kiss her on her cheek, threatening further violence if they did not comply. The accused then recorded a video of the act, and got the girl's number. Later, one of the accused called the girl, saying that he would post her video, if she did not become his girlfriend.
A case was registered on Friday at 2 am against all accused, under 354A (sexual harassment) and 392 (robbery) of the IPC; the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) and relevant sections of the IT Act.
