Congress candidate and sitting Member of Parliament from North Central constituency Priya Dutt failed to file her nomination papers on Monday due to heavy traffic.
Dutt reached the collectors office - where nominations are filed - at Bandra-Kurla Complex two minutes after it closed.
Krishna Hedge, Congress spokesperson said, "She was late by two minutes. Large number of followers had turned up to greet her. We didn't expect such a turn out. This caused traffic jam because of which she was delayed."
Priya Dutt left from her Pali Hill residence at 2.15 pm.
Nomination papers can be filed between 11 am tou00a03 pm. The last date to file nomination is April 9.
"Today wasn't the last day to file nominations. She is not unhappy with her not filing the papers today. She is overwhelmed by the crowd that turned out to support her," added Hegde.
She will now be filing her nomination papers on Wednesday.
Meanwhile her rivals, BJP's Mahesh Jethmalani and BSP's Ibrahim Shaikh filed their nomination papers on time.
