Actor's and two other cars broken into on Juhu's 11th Road; thieves stole panels of their music players

Three cars were broken into in the posh lane of 11th Road, Juhu, on Wednesday, leaving residents jittery about the safety. All the cars belonged to high-income residents, with one being actor Abhay Deol's blue Maruti Swift.
The three thieves in a black car stole the panels of music players from the vehicles.

The incident that took place at 2 am yesterday when, according to eyewitnesses, three men were seen cutting into the window of one of the many cars parked on the street.

The thieves, however, fled when security men in the area sounded the alert.

Kalpesh Shah of Sadguru Builders whose daughter's Maruti Swift was broken in, said, "We suspect it is an inside job. I am just glad there wasn't more damage to the car."

Several Guards

The other victim, an A-list realtor Sangeet Kumar, said that security was the real concern in the area. "This is a posh locality. All the buildings here have guards.

For something like this to happen here is incredibly scary. What if my niece or my wife was there and the thief pulled out a knife," said Kumar, adding that the expense was a few thousand rupees.

Deol couldn't comment, as he's out of town. Inspector Sunil Zavre of Juhu police station said investigations were on.
