Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mumbai on Thursday promised corruption-free civic body, better roads and infra in Mumbai.
According to Mumbai BJP President and MLA Ameet Satam, a citizen survey was conducted in city and over 2.65 lakh people took part in the campaign, which began on September 16, 2025. Of these, 1.45 lakh people said they were willing to volunteer to help build the "future Mumbai".
Satam thanked the public for their strong response and said the BJP would continue engaging with citizens even after the elections.
Satam said that Mumbai residents expressed clear satisfaction with the progress of several big infrastructure projects carried out by the MahaYuti government. These include the Metro network, the Coastal Road, the Atal Setu, and the government's housing initiatives.
He said citizens repeatedly pointed out that these projects are bringing visible positive changes to the city, an official statement said.
The feedback shows that citizens want a corruption-free administration, honesty, and more direct communication from corporators.
Around 53 per cent of respondents said that they were unhappy with the quality of BMC services, it said.
Residents listed the city's biggest problems as:
- Roads and potholes
- Waste collection and cleanliness
- Drain cleaning and flood control
- Water supply
- Health services
- Housing and rehabilitation
- Education
People also expect quicker improvements especially in the areas of roads, sanitation, and monsoon preparedness.
The suggestions from Mumbai citizens included cleanliness competitions and awards at the local level, designated hawker zones, separate hospital wards for women and senior citizens, setting up an innovation hub in Mumbai, implementing a Mumbai environmental plan, AR (Augmented Reality) booths to showcase the forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maharashtra's cultural heritage, a fully online, single-window system for all citizen services, the statement said.
Satam said that the people from all walks of life -- dabbawalas, porters, rickshaw drivers, youth, professionals, and film industry personalities -- gave their opinions.
The age distribution of participants was:
- 2 per cent below 18
- 25 per cent between 18-30
- 65 per cent between 30-60
- 8 per cent above 60
The BJP considers this public engagement the true success of the campaign and promised that citizen feedback would continue to shape policy decisions in the future," Satam said.
