Central Railway will operate 16 additional special trains between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Mumbai, and Varanasi and Sultanpur, while extending 34 services of existing special trains to meet increased passenger demand during the festive season.
The additional and extended services will operate between October and November 2026, Central Railway said in a statement issued on Friday.
Central Railway will operate eight weekly special services between LTT Mumbai and Varanasi.
Train 04225 LTT Mumbai-Varanasi Weekly Special will depart LTT every Friday at 3 pm from October 23 to November 13. It will reach Varanasi at 2.05 am on the third day.
The return train, 04226 Varanasi-LTT Mumbai Weekly Special, will depart Varanasi every Thursday at 1.35 am from October 22 to November 12 and arrive at LTT at 2 pm the following day.
The trains will halt at Thane, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Khandwa, Itarsi Junction, Rani Kamalapati, Bina, Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi, Orai, Kanpur Central, Lucknow, Sultanpur and Jaunpur City.
Another eight weekly special trains will operate between LTT Mumbai and Sultanpur.
Train 04211 LTT Mumbai-Sultanpur Weekly Special will leave LTT every Thursday at 3 pm from October 22 to November 12 and reach Sultanpur at 11 pm the next day.
The return train, 04212 Sultanpur-LTT Mumbai Weekly Special, will depart Sultanpur every Wednesday at 4 am from October 21 to November 11 and arrive at LTT at 2 pm the following day.
The train will halt at Thane, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik Road, Bhusaval, Khandwa, Itarsi Junction, Rani Kamalapati, Bina, Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi, Orai, Kanpur Central and Lucknow.
Trains 04225/04226 and 04211/04212 will comprise:
- 14 AC 3-Tier Economy coaches
- Four General Second Class coaches
- Two Generator Vans
- 34 existing special services extended
Central Railway has also extended 34 services of two existing special train pairs.
Sainagar Shirdi-Bikaner-Sainagar Shirdi:
Train 04716 Sainagar Shirdi-Bikaner Weekly Special, earlier scheduled to run until August 16, will now operate from October 4 to November 29, with nine additional services.
Train 04715 Bikaner-Sainagar Shirdi Weekly Special, earlier scheduled until August 15, will now operate from October 3 to November 28, with nine additional train services.
Solapur-Ajmer-Solapur:
Train 09628 Solapur-Ajmer Weekly Special, earlier scheduled until July 16, will now operate from October 8 to November 26, with eight additional services.
Train 09627 Ajmer-Solapur Weekly Special, earlier scheduled until July 15, will now operate from October 7 to November 25, with eight additional services.
There will be no change in the timings, routes, halts or days of operation of the extended services.
Bookings for the extended trips of trains 04716 and 09628 will open on September 19, while bookings for trains 04225 and 04211 will open on September 20.
Passengers can book tickets at PRS counters and through the IRCTC website. Unreserved coaches can be booked through the UTS system at normal charges.
Passengers can also use the RailOne app to book tickets.
