Six years after the death of his daughter, Disha, Satish Salian walked into the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on Friday and recorded his statement.
Salian arrived at the CBI office around 2 pm along with his advocate Nilesh Ojha and stayed inside for over four hours, emerging only at 6.30 pm. The visit comes days after the Bombay High Court ordered the CBI to take over the investigation into Disha's death and directed the agency to record Salian's statement, register an FIR, and appoint a senior officer to lead the probe.
Ojha told mid-day that the statement went beyond his client's daughter's case. "In our statement, he has named [Shiv Sena (UBT) leader] Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Suraj Pancholi, and others as being involved," Ojha stated. "[Former policeman] Sachin Vaze has also given us an extra-judicial confession. If the Disha Salian death case is solved, even the Sushant Singh Rajput death case will be solved," he claimed.
Ojha added that the legal team was determined to see the matter through. "We are trying our level best to ensure that everyone involved in the murders of both Disha and Sushant is punished," he said.
Satish Salian, meanwhile, said, "I have recorded my statement, and I am finally sure that the culprits will be punished." mid-day tried to reach Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut for a comment on Salian's allegations, but he did not respond to calls at press time.
Sena (UBT) spokesperson Kishori Pednekar said, "I don't think Aaditya-ji has anything to do with the allegations that are being made and all I want to say is that.. Satyameva Jayate." mid-day reached out to Dino Morea's team who did not get back at the time of going to press.
None of the individuals named by Ojha has responded to the fresh allegations so far. While ordering the CBI probe, the Bombay High Court had made it clear that no one should be treated as an accused unless the investigating officer finds sufficient material against them.
Disha Salian, 28, died after falling from the 14th floor of a Malad high-rise on June 8, 2020 - six days before her former employer Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence.
