Some of the country's top actors and sportspersons can expect final reminder notices about their stamp duty dues to land on their doorsteps soon.

MiD DAY had, on January 7 ('Sachin, Bips, Bebo on duty evader list'), reported that the stamp office was planning to send the notices to many celebrities, who owed them stamp duty on endorsements running into lakhs each.
Suniel Shetty's name has been removed from the list of defaulters
The notices were issued on Wednesday. Interestingly, actor Suniel Shetty approached the stamp duty authorities after reading MiD DAY's article and senior officials confirmed that his name was subsequently cleared from the defaulters' list.
"I am happy that MiD DAY brought the issue to my notice and I could accordingly approach the stamp authorities, who cleared the matter and admitted that it was due to oversight," Shetty told MiD DAY.
