Mumbai is likely to experience partly cloudy skies on Friday, with one or two spells of light rain expected in the city and suburbs, according to the latest weather update. The forecast comes as preparations continue for Ganesh Visarjan, with large numbers of people expected to travel across the city and visit immersion points.
The weather outlook indicates that rainfall is likely to remain light, with no significant rain recorded across most parts of Mumbai during the 24-hour period ending at 8 am on Friday.
The latest weather forecast issued at 8 am stated that Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to remain partly cloudy through the day. Residents may experience one or two spells of light rain, although no widespread heavy rainfall has been indicated in the current forecast.
The weather conditions could provide some relief for people travelling across the city for Ganesh Visarjan-related activities. However, intermittent rain may still affect traffic movement and outdoor arrangements at some locations.
Rainfall recorded across Mumbai remained negligible between 8 am on September 24 and 8 am on September 25.
The average rainfall recorded during the period was 0.00 mm in the city, 0.02 mm in the eastern suburbs and 0.12 mm in the western suburbs.
Mumbai will experience two high tides on Friday. The first high tide is expected at 11:03 am and is forecast to reach 4.12 metres.
The second high tide is expected at 11:27 pm, with the water level likely to reach 4.03 metres.
The high tide timings are particularly relevant during the Ganesh Visarjan period, when devotees and civic agencies closely monitor conditions along the city's coastline and at immersion locations.
People visiting beaches, waterfront areas and designated immersion points are advised to remain aware of local instructions and avoid entering the sea.
The first low tide on Friday is expected at 5:10 pm, when the tide is forecast to fall to 1.05 metres.
Another low tide is expected at 5:12 am on September 26, with the water level forecast to reach 1.01 metres.
The changing tide conditions will be monitored by civic authorities as immersion activities continue across Mumbai.
The rainfall figures recorded between 8 am on September 24 and 8 am on September 25 show that Mumbai received very little rain during the period.
The city recorded no rainfall, while the eastern suburbs received an average of 0.02 mm and the western suburbs recorded 0.12 mm.
With light rain forecast and rainfall levels remaining low, weather conditions are expected to remain relatively stable in Mumbai on Friday. However, residents travelling for Ganesh Visarjan activities may still encounter brief spells of rain during the day.
