Mumbai on its fifth day visarjan on Friday saw a total of 2033 idols being immersed across the city and suburbs. Of these, 17 were idols that came from public pandals across the city. About 2011 idols came from households, while there were five Hartalika Visarjans. The civic body said that no untoward incidents were reported.
These visarjans took place at the 355 artificial ponds made by the BMC for the immersions, with idols above 6 feet in height being immersed in natural water bodies. The D ward in South Mumbai has the maximum artificial ponds, with 28. In comparison, the BMC created 298 artificial ponds last year.
