A bag containing six gold bars was found concealed beneath a seat inside an aircraft at the Mumbai airport. According to a report in the Hindustan Times, Mumbai Airport Customs officials believe that the gold was left behind for someone else to pick up.

This is not the first time as a similar discovery was made a few days ago, when officers from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) found an unclaimed bag containing 12 gold bars of 10 grams each worth Rs 38 lakh.

Earlier this week, authorities at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport seized 12 gold bars weighing about 1392 grams. The bars were concealed in a baggage trolley.

Loaders, cleaners, trolley handlers and others, who work in the Mumbai Airport and aid in smuggling have been arrested by customs in the past.

Furthermore, gold bars have been found hidden inside plane toilets, lifejacket pouches, tissue paper holders, under seats, in toilets near immigration counters and even inside oxygen mask cavities.
