Heavy vehicles barred from Shahad Flyover as road works on Valdhuni bridge kick off, check complete traffic restrictions in Kalyan

The Thane Traffic Police in Maharashtra on Tuesday announced temporary traffic restrictions on heavy vehicles due to road resurfacing work on the Valdhuni flyover, which connects Kalyan East and West in Thane district.

The work is being carried out by the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and is scheduled from December 20, 2025 to January 10, 2026, officials said.

According to an official notification, due to this, heavy vehicle movement on the Shahad Flyover route has been causing traffic congestion in the Ulhasnagar traffic division area.

To prevent traffic jams and ensure smooth and safe movement for the public, traffic control measures have been put in place, the notification said.

Entry ban for heavy vehicles from Malshej-end

Heavy vehicles coming from the Malshej side towards Kalyan will not be allowed to enter at Dam Phata, Murbad, which falls under the Thane Rural Police jurisdiction, the traffic notification said.

The traffic police, in its notification also share alternative route for motorists.

It said that such vehicles should take the Dam Phata-Badlapur Road, and proceed via Badlapur - Palegaon - Nevali Naka - Mangal Road - Lodha Palava / Shil-Dighar Road / Patri Pool, and then continue towards Kalyan or their intended destinations.

Entry ban from Murbad towards Shahad

Heavy vehicles travelling from Murbad towards Kalyan via the Shahad bridge will be stopped at Dahagaon Phata (Rayatagao) in the Thane Rural area.

Alternative Route: These vehicles must turn left at Dahagaon Phata, and proceed via Waholi - Manjarli - Dahagaon - Erjadgaon - Badlapur - Palegaon - Nevali Naka - Mangal Road - Lodha Palava / Shil-Dighar Road / Patri Pool, and then continue onwards.

Time restrictions for heavy vehicles

The officials said that the heavy vehicles will not be allowed on these routes during the following hours:

- 6 am to 11 am

- 7 pm to 10 pm

"The traffic control order will be in force from 12.01 am on November 23, 2025 until midnight on January 10, 2026," the officials said.

Emergency vehicles exempted

These restrictions will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigade, ambulances, green corridor vehicles, oxygen gas transport vehicles and other essential service vehicles.
