Mumbai's iconic Lalbaugcha Raja received donations totalling Rs 6.11 crore during this year's Ganeshotsav 2026, according to details released by the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal.
The mandal, which completed the 93rd year of its annual Ganesh festival, received contributions from devotees through donation boxes placed at different locations around the pandal and during the visarjan.
Between September 14 and September 28, donation boxes at the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal collected Rs 3,53,42,000.
The donation boxes placed along the Charan Sparsh and Mukh Darshan queues received another Rs 2,42,40,000.
A further Rs 16,14,500 was collected through the donation box during the visarjan.
Together, the three categories accounted for donations of Rs 6,11,96,500.
The mandal has also announced a public auction of gold and silver ornaments, other items and two motorcycles offered by devotees during the festival.
The auction will be held on Wednesday, September 30, from 5 pm to 10 pm at Lalbaug Market.
According to the organisers, devotees and members of the public can participate in the auction. Details of the articles being auctioned are expected to be made available as part of the auction process at the venue.
The announcement was made by mandal president Balasaheb Kamble, honorary secretary Sudhir Salvi and treasurer Mangesh Dalvi.
The announcement of the donations comes days after Lalbaugcha Raja was immersed in the Arabian Sea on September 26, marking the conclusion of the Ganeshotsav celebrations.
The idol was taken through an around 8-km-long procession, which continued for nearly 26 hours through the day and night.
Thousands of devotees gathered along the route and at Girgaon Chowpatty to witness the final journey and bid farewell to Bappa on Anant Chaturdashi.
The procession travelled from Lalbaug through parts of central and south Mumbai before reaching Girgaon Chowpatty, where the final rituals were performed before the idol was immersed.
The Lalbaugcha Raja is among Mumbai's most prominent Ganesh pandals and attracts huge crowds of devotees from across the country.
Devotees traditionally offer cash, jewellery and other valuables to the deity during the festival. The mandal has completed 93 years of organising the annual celebrations at Lalbaug.
