Intelligence reports say Muzamil, who was arrested after 26/11 and released in May, is now in PoK to co-ordinate operations in India
Indian law enforcement agencies have unearthed clinching proof that wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Muzamil alias Yusuf is now in charge of the banned outfit and coordinating operations across the country.
An intelligence report, a copy of which is with MiD DAY, indicates that Muzamil, who was apprehended by Pakistani security forces after 26/11, was released in the second week of May.
According to the report, Muzamil has been moved to Muzaffarabad in PoK to handle and co-ordinate LeT operations in India. He is one of the 38 suspects wanted by the Mumbai police for 26/11.

Police sources said Muzamil could be the new face of LeT after its high-ranking members Zaki-ur-Rehman Laqvi and Abu Hamza came under the scanner of several countries in the aftermath of the 26/11 attacks.
Qasab connectionMuzamil's name first emerged when another terror suspect, Sabahuddin Ahmed, told Indian investigators that he met the LeT commander when he was sent from Lahore to Islamabad in 2006.

Ahmed went to Pakistan for training and was arrested in India just before the 26/11 attacks. He also met one Abdul Azeez, who handed him an alphabetical coding system to be used for the 26/11 attacks.

Azzez and Muzamil had instructed Mohammad Ajmal Qasab and the other nine 26/11 terrorists that theywould be working for the ISI and were to be in contact with LeT during the attacks.
The Crime Branch, during subsequent investigations, learnt that before 26/11 Muzamil had close links with a Colonel Kyani, who is with the ISI.
Major Dogar, Captain Maullik Zaffar and an unidentified brigadier were part of the team that imparted training to the LeT terrorists before the Mumbai attacks.
Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Rakesh Maria confirmed that Muzamil was active in the country.
Terror alertMeanwhile, there is already an alert about LeT and other organisations like the Jaish-e-Mohammed striking during the festival season.

Commissioner of Police D Sivanandhan said the government and the police are fully equipped to deal with any terror situations.
