Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday called on all government departments to speed up reforms aimed at making public services simpler, transparent and technology-driven, an official statement said.
Chairing the third-phase review meeting of the Governance Process Re-engineering (GPR) initiative at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, Fadnavis directed departments to show significant progress by August 15.
He said every government service should be reviewed again to reduce the number of documents required and improve ease of access for citizens.
"All departments should work together to build Maharashtra's identity as the state providing the most accessible government services," CM Fadnavis said.
The Chief Minister said the GPR initiative follows a six-step process for improving each government service.
The process includes preparation of GPR reports, discussions with the Chief Minister's Office, departmental approvals, technical development through MahaIT, issuing government resolutions and final testing of services.
Fadnavis instructed departments to complete at least the fifth stage by August 15, including issuing necessary government resolutions and preparing services for final testing.
Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, along with additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries, secretaries and senior officials from various departments, attended the meeting.
Fadnavis said the state government has undertaken a detailed review of public services to make delivery faster, transparent and citizen-friendly.
As part of the reforms, duplicate services have been merged, while outdated and unnecessary services have been removed.
The government is gradually bringing services together on digital platforms, including MahaDBT 2.0, MAITRI and Aaple Sarkar 2.0.
The Information Technology Department has been asked to create strong technical systems to ensure smooth delivery without disruptions.
During the meeting, Fadnavis inaugurated two projects under the Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Department - Data Analytics as a Service and Mini Setu Centres.
The Chief Minister said the use of data analytics would improve accountability in administration, help prevent irregularities, save government funds and increase transparency in public service delivery.
He also highlighted the conversion of 'Police Dadalora Khidki' centres in Maoist-free areas of Gadchiroli district into Setu Centres.
Fadnavis said the move would help citizens in these areas access government services more effectively and strengthen citizen-focused administration.
The Maharashtra government said the GPR initiative is aimed at reducing procedural delays, improving efficiency and ensuring that citizens receive government services with fewer hurdles.
The state administration will continue reviewing and upgrading services as part of its digital governance roadmap.
