Unidentified persons opened fire outside the residence of social media influencer Nadeem Moinuddin Khan, popularly known as "Baba Khan", in Mumbra during the early hours of Saturday, police said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the police, the incident took place around 4 am in the Kausa area of Mumbra. The perpetrators fired two to three rounds outside the influencer's residence before fleeing the scene. One of the bullets hit a car parked outside the building compound, damaging its rear portion.
In a reel posted after the incident, Khan alleged that he had earlier raised concerns about his safety with the police. "I complained to the Mumbra police several times about my security situation, but they took it lightly. I even informed the commissioner, but nobody paid attention. Today they [perpetrators] have fired at my house, they have reached my family," he said in the video.
Soon after the incident,the local police station conducted a search and collected preliminary evidence from the scene. Officers said they registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. CCTV footage from nearby buildings and streets is being examined to identify the suspects and trace their movements.
He is a Mumbra-based social media influencer and self-described social worker with over 713k followers on Instagram. Through his videos and posts, he often shares content related to local issues, charity work and community matters.
