The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Maharashtra, on Sunday released Maharashtra's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) data, stating that nearly 88 per cent enumeration forms have been so far distributed in state.
The enumeration phase of the revision began on June 30 and will continue until August 8.
Around 1,00,253 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting the exercise across all 36 districts of Maharashtra, it said.
According to the figures, Maharashtra has around 98 million registered electors. Of these, nearly 86 million elector-specific Enumeration Forms (EFs) have already been distributed.
The state has achieved an overall distribution rate of 87.79 per cent, while more than 59 million forms have already been digitised, marking significant progress in updating the electoral rolls.
Several districts have almost completed the distribution of forms.
Jalgaon and Hingoli have recorded distribution rates of more than 99.9 per cent, making them among the best-performing districts in the state.
Election Commission of India (ECI) officials said the strong progress in these districts reflects the extensive work being carried out by Booth Level Officers.
While the state has recorded high overall progress, some of Maharashtra's largest urban centres are still behind the state average.
Pune, which has the highest number of registered voters in Maharashtra, has completed around 70 per cent of form distribution.
The figures are lower in:
- Thane: 67.97 per cent
- Mumbai Suburban: 67.79 per cent
- Mumbai City: 72.37 per cent
Officials are expected to focus on these urban areas as the August 8 deadline approaches.
The Special Intensive Revision aims to update and verify Maharashtra's electoral rolls before the next elections. Election officials are continuing the distribution and digitisation of forms to complete the exercise within the scheduled timeline.
Meanwhile, the District Election Officer and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Ashwini Bhide had last week directed officials to expedite the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Mumbai, stressing the need to complete house visits and digitisation within the stipulated timeline despite disruptions caused by recent heavy rainfall.
Bhide issued the directions while reviewing the work of Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) for the Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency at Mumbai Public School in Liberty Garden, Malad.
Bhide said the recent spell of heavy rain had affected the pace of the exercise and, with more showers likely in the coming days, officials must accelerate fieldwork to avoid delays.
She urged booth-level officers (BLOs) to intensify their efforts and ensure that house-to-house verification and digitisation of electoral data are completed within the prescribed timeframe.
