Maharashtra: Two vehicle fire incidents reported in Thane within hours, no injuries

Two separate vehicle fire incidents were reported in Maharashtra's Thane during the early hours of Tuesday, with no injuries reported in either case, officials said.

In the first incident, a Renault Triber was completely gutted after it caught fire near Saket Bridge on the Mumbai-Nashik carriageway in Thane West.

According to the Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the incident was reported at around 4:06 am by the Jawahar Bagh Fire Station.

The vehicle, driven by Rahul Yadav, was travelling from Kalyan Bypass towards Gaimukh when the fire broke out.

Yadav and his three friends, who were travelling in the car, managed to safely exit the vehicle after moving it to one side of the road. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Police personnel, fire brigade teams with a rescue vehicle and fire engine, along with Disaster Management Cell staff, rushed to the spot. Officials said the fire caused extensive damage, and the vehicle was completely burnt.

The blaze was brought under control and fully extinguished by around 4:54 am, officials added.

Parked TATA Eicher Pro catches fire near Castle Mill Naka

In another incident reported minutes later, a parked TATA Eicher Pro caught fire near Ambeghosale Lake at Castle Mill Naka in Thane West.

Officials said the incident was reported at around 4:33 am by local resident Pravin Ingale. The vehicle, owned by Vishal Singh, was parked along the roadside when the fire broke out.

Police personnel and fire brigade teams with a fire engine rushed to the spot after receiving the alert. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The blaze damaged the driver's cabin of the vehicle before firefighters managed to bring the situation under control. The fire was completely extinguished by around 5:05 am, officials added.

BEST bus catches fire at Pratiksha Nagar depot

Meanwhile, a parked BEST bus caught fire on the night of May 24, at the Pratiksha Nagar Depot parking yard in Mumbai, triggering a swift response from the fire brigade and police officials.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to officials, the incident took place at around 11.30 pm on May 24 and involved Bus No. 7692, which operates on Route No. 9 from the Pratiksha Nagar Depot (Mateshwari).

The bus had been parked and stabilised in the depot yard at around 10.21 pm when security guard Bin Nawaz noticed flames emerging from the idle vehicle during routine surveillance.

The guard initially attempted to locate a fire extinguisher but was unable to access one due to the intensity of the flames. Authorities were immediately alerted, following which the fire brigade rushed to the spot.

Firefighters reached the depot at around 12.21 am and managed to completely douse the blaze by 12.30 am. Police personnel and media representatives also arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.

Officials said no passengers or staff members were injured in the fire. The exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
