The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds over the next 24 hours.
According to the weather forecasting agency, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places.
The warning indicates the possibility of localised weather activity, with residents in the affected districts advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles.
While IMD issued a yellow alert for Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, Mumbai on Monday experienced partly cloudy conditions. The IMD forecasted partly cloudy skies in the city and suburbs and the possibility of light rain at isolated places.
Minimum temperatures at both of the city's observatories remained above normal, while daytime temperatures continued to hover around 33 degrees Celsius.
According to the IMD's latest update, Colaba recorded a minimum temperature of 26.4 degrees Celsius, which was 2.1 degrees above normal. The Santacruz weather station recorded a minimum of 25.2 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees above normal.
Mumbai's overall air quality index (AQI) was reported at 81 on Monday morning, according to figures provided for the Central Pollution Control Board's SAMEER app.
Under India's national AQI classification, readings between 51 and 100 are categorised as satisfactory, while values from 101 to 200 fall in the moderate category. The citywide reading therefore remained in the satisfactory range.

The city received no rainfall during the reporting period, with 41.1 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, as per IMD. Moreover, the relative humidity stood at 54 per cent.
