A 400-metric-tonne crane deployed for Metro Line 2B construction developed a technical snag near JVPD Junction on Thursday morning, triggering a massive traffic jam at Juhu Circle and causing a backlog of nearly 1.5 km. The congestion severely affected the morning school commute, with residents claiming several students reached school more than an hour late.
Jotmani said the school gave an exemption to students affected. LOCA also informed the traffic police about the issue. He added that ongoing infrastructure work related to Metro Line 2B has been contributing to traffic problems in the area.

MMRDA said it has taken up the matter with the contractor J Kumar Infraprojects, and that its project team was coordinating with traffic authorities to manage vehicular movement. "To provide partial relief, one lane at JVPD Junction was opened for traffic while repair and removal work continued," MHADA said.
