Forming the northernmost limit of Greater Mumbai in the eastern suburbs, the T ward is characterised by wide roads and pockets with planned residential development, namely Devidayal Layout and Gavde Venze residential scheme, apart from several townships and residential high-rises, alongside industrial areas with pharmaceutical companies. It is also home to the Vihar lake inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park.

Until Octroi was abolished, the ward had two checkpoints from which one could enter the city. Two major roads, one providing connectivity between Mumbai and cities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) such as Thane, Kalyan Dombivli, and Bhiwadi, and one that is a major arterial road in the eastern suburbs, namely the Eastern Express Highway and the LBS Road, run through the centre of the T ward, leading to traffic snarls during peak morning and evening office hours.

It is characterised by a low population density of just 80 people per square kilometre, and one of the most equal male-female ratios in its voter base. It is also characterised by active civic participation from the residents of the area. In December 2025, several residents clashed with unauthorised hawkers occupying the streets and footpaths of Mulund, leading to traffic jams and inconvenience to pedestrians.
