Military training for school students to begin soon in Maharashtra, says Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse

Military training for school students could soon begin in Maharashtra as the state School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse on Wednesday directed the officials to speed up the process of its introducing, an official statement said.

He suggested that such training can be conducted every Saturday under the Anandadayi Shanivar (Joyful Saturday) programme.

The minister held a review meeting held at Mantralaya on Wednesday.

The meeting was focused on planning military training sessions for school students with the help of retired army personnel.

Bhuse said that it is important to consider school schedules and workdays while planning such activities.

He suggested that apart from military training, students should be given training in yoga, self-defence, and karate under the Joyful Saturday programme.

Bhuse told the officials that the initiative should be implemented in a disciplined and effective manner, with proper coordination between the School Education Department and the Sainik Welfare Department.
