Mumbai: Fire breaks out at industrial premises in Goregaon

A fire broke out in a building at an industrial premises in suburban Goregaon in the wee hours today, a fire official said. Five fire tenders have been rushed to the site


A major fire broke out in a garments factory in Goregaon early today morning. But since the factory was shut on Sunday, no casualties were reported.

The fire broke out in Goregaon's Cama Industrial Estate, Wallbutt Road at around 5 am. The fire brigade got a call around 5.45 am, following which four fire engines and five water tankers were sent to the spot.

It is a basement + ground + 2 storey building. The fire was confined to the basement and ground floor. Clothing, furniture, wooden boxes, electric wiring, packing material got burnt.

"Thankfully, there was nobody inside when it happened. Although the fire was major, we managed to douse it. Currently, we are making sure nobody is trapped. As a security measure, one fire engine and water tanker will be kept there," informed a brigade official on duty.

The fire was doused at around 9 am.
