Small-time actor Ajaz Khan was yesterday let out on bail by a court in Borivli after being held for sending obscene photos of his private parts and abusive messages to a 36-year-old hair stylist, whose salon business he claimed he was interested to invest in. Khan and the woman befriended each other through Facebook last month. "Considering he's an actor and celebrity, I accepted his request. After a few days, we exchanged mobile numbers," said the woman.

First meeting
"I have a salon, but the business was not going great. I was looking for an investor... When I told Ajaz about it, he asked me to meet him at Filmistan Studios on October 30. I went along with a female friend. Since he was busy with his shoot, we spoke for just a few minutes, but even then, he spoke rubbish." At night, the woman claims Ajaz sent messages saying he was sorry and said they'll meet again.

"Last week, to gauge whether he was still interested, I sent him a message complimenting his WhatsApp display picture. He replied by sending obscene photos. When I asked him why he was sending such pictures, he sent abuses," said the woman.

FIR registered
Police sources said the woman registered an FIR against Khan on November 15 at Malwani police station. She showed the cops a few of the obscene images and messages and also made them listen to a voice message. The cops then registered an FIR under section 354(A) (sexual harassment) of the IPC and section 66 (E) of the IT Act, and arrested Khan on Saturday.

On being produced in court yesterday, Khan said his name was being misused and false allegations were being levelled at him as he is a celebrity. "He was later released on a bail of R10, 000," said senior inspector Deepak Phatangde from Malwani police station. Outside the court, Ajaz said, "The court released me as I am innocent. God is with me."

‘Makes no difference'
His advocate Yusuf Khan told mid-day, "People were jealous of the progress Ajaz was making and wanted to gather publicity by accusing him. Such a thing is not going to make any difference to my client."
