The delivery partner caught on CCTV. PIC/BY SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT
The residents of Akshay Paradise in Chembur's Tilak Nagar, who on Tuesday discovered that a delivery rider assigned to bring food to one of the houses in the building's A Wing urinated into his hand in the lift, and then proceeded to drink his urine, have decided not to order from the platform anymore.
While the delivery partner has been sacked, residents feel the action taken was inappropriate. The incident left a stench inside the lift, causing residents to initially think a dog had urinated and subsequently check CCTV footage, which revealed what had actually happened.
Chandan got to know about the incident after reading the chats in the society WhatsApp group and felt very uneasy, but before he could reel back, his phone got stolen at the Kurla railway station, which led to him not being able to lodge a complaint yet. "My mother is scared to order from the platform now; it was a very disturbing thing," he said.
Society member Girish Shetty took to social media and posted videos, tagging the platform with the order ID. He received a call from the platform on Wednesday, informing him that the delivery driver had been off-boarded and the matter had been concluded, without any further action.
Nishant Chandan, who ordered the food
âIt was actually a rare occurrence of ordering food for me. I work the night shift, and then have a home-cooked breakfast. But since everyone at home was sick, I ordered my food, had it and slept so that I could wake up for my shift in the night.'
