It's that time of the year when the Edinburgh Fringe Festival halfway around the world gives us our annual dose of FOMO. Bandra might have something to ease our woes this year. The newly announced second edition of the Neighbourhood Festival has similar designs on the buzzing neighbourhood. Come September 30, multiple venues including 3 Art House, Khar Comedy Club, Gharaonda, and The Den will form a walkable network that visitors can hop, skip, and jump across.
We learnt that while the line-up is still taking shape, confirmed names include director Kiran Rao, storyteller Yahya Bootwala, actor Kubbra Sait, and comedian Rohan Joshi, who will be fresh off a European stand-up tour. Word from the organisers is that actor Aamir Khan might possibly drop by for a short segment. It's quite literally right up his alley, after all.

It was a busy weekend for the folks at Doolally Taproom. They opened doors to a new outlet in Versova on Saturday. "We want to be the neighbourhood adda where good beer, food, company and a little bit of tomfoolery meet. The new space gives our patrons more room to breathe, and perhaps a slightly better chance of finding a table," quipped Belinda D'Souza, a representative of the brewery.

Ever wanted to have a closer look at the illustrations from our books? You're in luck. After a successful Delhi edition last year, exhibition Becoming by Richa Jha will head to Mumbai on October 2, bringing illustrations out of the pages and into a gallery space. The spectacle by Pickle Yolk Books will be held at the PL Deshpande Gallery in Prabhadevi. Visitors can explore immersive installations, curated walks, workshops, conversations and interactive sessions.

Apeksha Bhattacharya of the Indian Academy of Russian Ballet is doing a happy dance this week. Good news arrived in a set of two for Bhattacharya, who will present her thesis at the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science Conference in Melbourne later this month. "There's another exciting first - I've been invited to attend the Vaganova Academy's teachers' training programme in St Petersburg, Russia. This is one of the rare occasions when an Indian ballet educator will visit this prestigious ballet institution. It's a significant moment, not just for me but the Indian ballet community. I hope this can help put us on the map," Bhattacharya told this diarist.
