It seems the Library Junction at Churchgate station was just a beginning; Project Mumbai and CityFlo fleet have now launched Turning Pages, mini libraries on buses, from August 31. "We're giving that time back to something most of us struggle to make room for - reading," shared Sankalp Kelshikar, CMO, and co-founder, Cityflo. For Project Mumbai founder Shishir Joshi, it is all about the energy of Mumbaikars, building on the goodness of citizens, and collaborative philanthropy.
This diarist had much to catch up on with rapper Krantinaari during a chance meeting last week in Bandra. For one, her bus-turned-music studio that travelled to Uttarakhand, which was featured in mid-day's The Guide in June 2024. The project was a success, we learnt, with seven Kumaoni women folk singers ready to make it big. What's next, we asked. "We're turning the spotlight towards Kashmir. There is some great untapped talent in the hills," she gave us a sneak peak.
If you recall the Ganeshotsav of 2016, you probably remember the buzz DJ and producer Udyan Sagar aka Nucleya created by launching his album Bass Rani at a visarjan procession in Girgaon. When this diarist met Sagar in Nashik earlier this year, he had nudged the musician to recreate the scenes during the upcoming Ganeshotsav in the city. "Though I'm not sure if Mumbai can still pull off something like that, we can always manifest it. I am a big believer in manifestation," he had admitted back then.
Last weekend, we saw it come to life when Nucleya took stage with new tunes at the Chinchpokli Chintamani pandal, this time at the aagaman (arrival) of the idol. We don't want to say we told you so, but we told you so.
