with humidity at 71 per cent (it was 60 on April 1), it felt hotter than Wednesday. The inhabitants of a tiny place called Hell in Michigan, enjoyed a cold 12u00b0C.
The only good news on the horizon is that the North-Westerly winds from the Arabian Sea, are expected to lower the temperature further by at least 1u00b0C.
"While the winds are expected to lower temperatures even further, the humidity will continue to be high for the next couple of days," explained Dr R V Sharma, the deputy director general of Regional Meteorological Centre, Colaba.
The rising temperatures predictably sent the demand for power to run air-conditioners and fans soaring on April 1.
Officials from power companies RInfra and BEST confirmed that the island city (Colaba to Sion) faced a power deficit of 45 MW on April 1, while the suburbs faced a shortage of 55 MW.
"The electricity consumed on April 1 in Mumbai is usually what households use up during the first week of May," said a spokesperson for Reliance Infrastructure Ltd.
