Central Railway on Friday announced a mega block on its suburban network in Mumbai on Sunday to undertake engineering and maintenance works on Central and Harbour lines.

According to an official statement, the block will affect services on the CSMT-Vidyavihar UP and DOWN Slow lines on the Main Line from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm, and on the Kurla-Vashi UP and DOWN Harbour lines from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.

During the block period, several suburban train services will be diverted, while some Harbour line services will remain suspended.

Trains from CSMT to be diverted

On the Main Line, Slow trains on the DOWN line departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.48 am and 3.45 pm will be diverted to the DOWN Fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar on Sunday. These trains will halt at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla stations before being redirected to the slow corridor at Vidyavihar.

Similarly, the UP Slow services departing Ghatkopar between 10.19 am and 3.52 pm will operate via the UP Fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT, halting at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla stations.

Train halts at various stations to be suspended

Railway authorities further said that trains will not halt at Masjid, Sandhurst Road, Chinchpokli, and Currey Road stations on both the UP and DOWN Slow lines during the block period.

Trains on Harbour Line to be affected

On the Harbour line, services towards Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel departing CSMT between 10.34 am and 3.36 pm, along with UP Harbour services for CSMT departing Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi between 10.17 am and 3.47 pm, will remain suspended.

Special train services announced by Central Railway

To minimise inconvenience to commuters, Central Railway said special train services will operate between CSMT and Kurla, as well as between Vashi and Panvel, during the block hours.

Passengers travelling on the Harbour line will also be permitted to use the Thane-Vashi/Nerul route between 10 am and 6 pm.

Railway officials further stated that the maintenance blocks are necessary for infrastructure upkeep and operational safety. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with the railway administration during the disruption.
