The Central Railway's Mumbai Division on Tuesday said that it will operate a special traffic and power block between Umbermali railway station and Atgaon railway station on May 6-7 for infrastructure work.
The block is being undertaken to carry out portal erection work for the removal of an infringement near Signal S2, an official statement said.
The block will be in place during the night of May 6 and early hours of May 7, 2026. It will begin at 02:55 am and will go on till 04:10 am.
The work will be undertaken on the section at UP and Down NE lines between Umbermali and Atgaon (excluding both stations).
A suburban train on the Kasara-CSMT route will be affected:
The Kasara-CSMT local train, scheduled to depart at 03:51 am, will now leave at 04:20 am.
Mail and express trains to be regulated
At Kasara station:
- Bhatni-LTT Express (Train no. 20104) will be regulated between 02:45 am and 04:10 am
- Balharshah-CSMT Express (Train no. 11002) will be regulated between 03:23 am and 04:15 am
At Igatpuri station:
- Balharshah-LTT Express (Train no. 22110) will be regulated between 02:55 am and 03:35 am
- Chhapra-LTT Antyodaya Express (Train no. 15101) will be regulated between 03:05 am and 03:40 am
Additional impact on Bhusaval Division
Two trains on the Bhusaval Division will also face delays of around 20 minutes:
- Amravati-CSMT Express (Train no. 12112)
- Gondia-CSMT Vidarbha Express (Train no. 12106)
Railway officials added that any late-running or rescheduled trains may also be regulated depending on operational requirements.
The railway administration said such maintenance blocks are necessary for infrastructure upkeep and passenger safety.

Meanwhile, in an another statement, the Central Railway last week had said that its Mumbai division has achieved a record in fine collections during ticket checking drives conducted in April 2026, an official statement said.
Rs 16.13 crore collection in April marks the highest-ever monthly collection, surpassing the previous record of Rs 14.50 crore set in May 2023, it said.
During April 2026, ticket checking teams detected and penalised around 2.27 lakh cases of irregular travel across Mail and Express and suburban trains, including Mumbai AC local trains. This is a 56 per cent increase compared to 1.45 lakh cases recorded in April 2025.
The total penalty recovered also saw a major jump, rising by 166 per cent from Rs 6.07 crore in April 2025 to Rs 16.13 crore this year.
