Western Railway's Mumbai local train services witnessed delays on Wednesday morning due to a series of operational and technical issues, with railway officials stating that the disruptions were not caused by rainfall.
The delays affected commuters during the morning peak hours before services gradually returned to normal.
According to railway officials, the first disruption occurred after a person was found trespassing on the tracks between Prabhadevi and Dadar.
The incident affected the down fast line between 9.16 am and 9.32 am, leading to delays in suburban train services.
Shortly afterwards, the 12954 August Kranti Rajdhani Express, travelling from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Mumbai Central, was delayed between 9.14 am and 9.20 am after an air pressure drop was detected between Dahisar and Borivali stations.
The technical issue temporarily impacted train movements on the Western Railway corridor.
Western Railway also reported a technical fault in the automatic door system of an air-conditioned local train.
The malfunction further contributed to delays during the morning rush hour before the issue was rectified.
Meanwhile, Central Railway's Harbour Line services were briefly disrupted early on Wednesday after an overhead equipment (OHE) wire snapped on the CSMT-bound line near Nerul at 4.52 am.
Railway officials said restoration work was completed by 5.45 am, following which services resumed on the affected section.
Although operations returned to normal, a few trains experienced minor delays during the early morning period.
Railway officials said that all the delays were the result of operational and technical issues rather than the ongoing wet weather in Mumbai.
