Heavy monsoon showers continued to lash Mumbai on Monday, with the city and its suburbs recording widespread rainfall between 8 am and 4 pm, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
During the eight-hour period, the Island City recorded an average rainfall of 24 mm, while the eastern suburbs received 59 mm, and the western suburbs 61 mm, indicating significantly heavier showers across the suburban belt.
According to the BMC's rainfall update, the Building Proposal Office at Vikhroli West recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 248.8 mm during the 24-hour period between 8 am on Sunday, July 5, and 8 am on Monday, July 6.
Other areas that recorded exceptionally heavy rainfall included Malvani Fire Station (248 mm), Borivali Fire Station (243.2 mm), Chincholi Fire Station (239 mm), Tagore Nagar Municipal School, Vikhroli (235.4 mm), T Ward Office (229.8 mm), Gavanpada Fire Station (216.4 mm), Barve Nagar Municipal School (216.2 mm), Dindoshi Fire Station (208 mm), and Sector 1 Municipal School, Charkop, Kandivali (206.8 mm).

The persistent rainfall affected several parts of the city, with heavier showers concentrated in the eastern and western suburbs as the active monsoon phase continued over Mumbai. Civic authorities remained on alert amid forecasts of further heavy rainfall and the possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Amid forecasts of heavy rainfall and the possibility of flooding in parts of Maharashtra, Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis on Monday appealed to citizens to remain vigilant, cooperate with the administration, and contact official helpline numbers in the event of any emergency.
Fadnavis made the appeal after chairing a review meeting at the Disaster Control Room in Mantralaya to assess the impact of heavy rainfall, flooding and landslides reported from various parts of the state. Disaster Relief Minister Girish Mahajan and senior officials attended the meeting.
In a statement, CM Fadnavis said the state government has activated its entire disaster management machinery and operationalised round-the-clock control rooms to ensure immediate assistance to citizens during any rain-related emergency.
CM Fadnavis said the administration was closely monitoring the evolving situation and that all necessary measures were being taken in affected areas.
He urged people not to believe rumours or unverified information and advised them to rely only on updates issued through official government sources. Citizens should immediately contact the designated helpline numbers for assistance during any emergency, added Fadnavis.
