The Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) issued an advisory for Mumbai on Monday amid heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions in the city.

Non-essential government offices in the city will operate for only half-a-day due to the weather situation.
Authorities have also advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official updates as heavy rainfall continues across Mumbai.
The advisory comes after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai and nearby districts due to the possibility of intense rainfall and strong winds.
The IMD on Monday issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall along with strong winds.
The weather department upgraded the warning from an orange alert to a red alert in the morning after observing changes in weather conditions.
According to the forecast, occasional strong winds reaching speeds of 70-80 kmph are expected over the region.
Officials have appealed to residents to remain cautious and avoid stepping out unless necessary.
The weather department warned that intense rainfall could cause flooding in low-lying and urban areas. It also said there was a possibility of flash floods and rising water levels in some catchment areas.
The IMD cautioned that water may flow over roads and bridges in vulnerable areas. Weak trees could get uprooted, while old and poorly maintained structures may suffer damage due to strong winds and continuous rainfall.
Landslides, mudslides and rock falls could also occur in vulnerable regions, the weather department said.
Rough sea conditions and strong winds are likely along the Konkan coast. Road, railway, air and ferry services could face disruptions, while essential services such as water and electricity supply may also be affected.
The IMD has advised commuters to check traffic conditions before starting their journey and follow instructions issued by local authorities.
People have been urged to avoid staying in unsafe buildings, refrain from working in open areas during thunderstorms and not take shelter under tall trees or isolated structures.
The weather department also advised residents to unplug electrical appliances during thunderstorms, stay away from water bodies and avoid contact with objects that conduct electricity to reduce the risk of lightning-related incidents.
The IMD said strong winds and heavy rainfall could damage plantations, horticulture and standing crops.
Farmers have been advised to harvest mature crops at the earliest and properly protect harvested produce. The department also recommended shifting stored grains to safe locations, avoiding irrigation and chemical spraying, and ensuring proper drainage of excess rainwater from fields.
