Mumbai weather update: Hot conditions likely as temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius

Mumbai is likely to see mainly clear skies across the city and suburbs on Saturday, October 3, with hot and humid conditions expected in isolated pockets.

The city is likely to record a maximum temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius, according to the weather forecast.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has forecast a high tide at 4.04 pm, with waves reaching 3.25 metres. A low tide is expected at 10.15 pm, measuring 1.30 metres.

On Sunday, October 4, Mumbai is expected to witness a higher high tide at 5.49 am, with waves reaching 3.59 metres. The day's low tide is forecast at 12.22 pm, measuring 2.28 metres.

Water stock at 95.84 per cent; seven reservoirs hold 13.87 lakh million litres

Mumbai's seven lakes supplying water to the city had 13,87,139 million litres (ML) of useful live storage as of 6 am on Saturday, October 3, according to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The combined storage stood at 95.84 per cent of the total useful live storage capacity of 14,47,363 ML.

Middle Vaitarna at 99.53 per cent, Vihar fully stocked

Among the seven reservoirs, Vihar Lake was at 100 per cent of its live storage capacity, while Middle Vaitarna stood at 99.53 per cent.

Bhatsa had 98.13 per cent of its live storage, followed by Tulsi at 98.33 per cent. Upper Vaitarna stood at 96.60 per cent, while Tansa was at 94.31 per cent.

Modak Sagar recorded the lowest storage level among the seven lakes at 76.91 per cent.

No rainfall recorded at Bhandup complex

The BMC report stated that no rainfall was recorded at the Bhandup Complex during the previous 24 hours, with the day's rainfall recorded at 0 mm. The total rainfall recorded at the complex stood at 2,991 mm.

The individual lakes also recorded 0 mm of rainfall on October 3, according to the report.

Lakes that started overflowing earlier this year

The report noted that Vihar Lake started overflowing on July 7 at 9 pm, while Tulsi Lake began overflowing at 11.43 pm on the same day.

Tansa Dam started overflowing on July 22 at 8.51 am, followed by Modak Sagar Dam on July 23 at 2.07 am.

The report also stated that the Middle Vaitarna WSCP gate was closed on July 6 at 2 pm, while release from Upper Vaitarna was stopped at 10 am on July 6.
