Mumbai weather update: Light rain likely through the day as cloudy skies continue across city

Mumbai is likely to experience generally cloudy skies with intermittent light spells of rain across the city and suburbs on Sunday, according to the latest weather forecast.

The forecast, issued at 8 am on September 6, indicates that light rain is expected at intervals through the day, with no indication of widespread heavy rainfall in the city and suburbs.

High and low tide timings

The city is expected to witness two high tides on Sunday. The first high tide is forecast at 7:55 am, when the tide is expected to reach 3.51 metres. The second high tide is expected at 7:07 pm, with the tide reaching 2.99 metres.

A low tide is expected at 1:55 pm, with the water level likely to fall to 2.35 metres.

Another low tide is forecast at 1:54 am on September 7, when the tide is expected to reach 1.26 metres.

Rainfall recorded across Mumbai

Mumbai recorded light rainfall in the 24-hour period between 8 am on September 5 and 8 am on September 6.

The average rainfall recorded during the period was 5.42 mm in the city, 10.01 mm in the eastern suburbs and 7.78 mm in the western suburbs.

The eastern suburbs recorded the highest average rainfall among the three regions during the period.

Delhi logs minimum temperature of 24.6 deg C; IMD forecasts rain, cloudy sky

Meanwhile, Delhiites woke up to cloudy sky on Sunday, and the city recorded a minimum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

During the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, Delhi received 30 mm of rainfall, it said.

The weather department has predicted cloudy sky with moderate rain and the maximum temperature expected to reach around 32 degrees Celsius.

Relative humidity was recorded at 98 per cent.

The air quality was recorded in the 'satisfactory' category at 9 am, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 57, according to Sameer App.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
