Mumbai and its suburbs are expected to remain generally cloudy on Monday, August 24, with occasional spells of light to moderate rain, according to the latest Mumbai weather update.
The weather update issued at 8 am indicated that rainfall is likely to occur intermittently across the city and suburban areas during the day.
Mumbai recorded an average rainfall of 2.22 mm between 8 am on August 23 and 8 am on August 24.
The eastern suburbs received an average of 4.71 mm of rain during the period, while the western suburbs recorded 3.80 mm.
The city is expected to witness a high tide of 3.56 metres at 10:12 am on August 24. Another high tide of 3.07 metres is forecast at 9:52 pm.
A low tide of 2.17 metres is expected at 4:30 pm on August 24. The next low tide, measuring 1.26 metres, is forecast at 3:46 am on August 25.
Meanwhile, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 27.8 degrees Celsius on Monday, with the weather office predicting moderate rain.
The Ridge area recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the city at 24 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a minimum of 24.8 degrees Celsius. Lodhi Road and Ayanagar recorded 27.4 and 27.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The city received light rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.30 am, with Safdarjung recording 3.4 mm, Palam 10.6 mm and Lodhi Road 2.7 mm.
Delhi's air quality was recorded in the "moderate" category, with the average air quality index (AQI) being clocked at 105, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered "good", 51 to 100 "satisfactory", 101 to 200 "moderate", 201 to 300 "poor", 301 to 400 "very poor", and 401 to 500 "severe".
The weather office has predicted generally cloudy skies and moderate rain in the city, with the maximum temperature likely to touch 35 degrees Celsius.
Kerala's Onam mood is at its peak, but the weather threatened to play spoilsport, with a strengthening low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal likely to bring heavy rain to several parts of the state through the festival days.
With First Onam falling on August 25 and Thiruvonam, the biggest day of the celebrations, on August 26, followed by Third and Fourth Onam, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall in several districts over the coming days. Eight districts are under a yellow alert on Monday: Kasaragod, Kannur, Thrissur, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam.
