Mumbai is likely to see mainly clear skies across the city and suburbs on Wednesday, October 7, with the maximum temperature expected to be around 33.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 26 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) latest Mumbai weather update.
The island city recorded a maximum temperature of 32.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees Celsius.
The withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon continued this week, with the line of withdrawal extending through several parts of the country, including Supaul, Ranchi, Raipur, Brahmapuri, Parbhani, Baramati, and Harnai, as per IMD.
According to the weather forecasting agency, the Southwest Monsoon also remained weak over Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and the Gujarat region during the day.
Mumbai's overall air quality index (AQI) stood at 83 on Wednesday, falling in the 'satisfactory' category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) SAMEER app. Air in this category may cause minor breathing discomfort to sensitive people.
Among the monitoring stations, Deonar recorded the highest AQI at 124, followed by Borivali at 123 and Bhandup at 107.
Meanwhile, across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Thane's AQI stood at 88, while Navi Mumbai recorded 86 and Kalyan 90.
Mumbai's seven lakes collectively held 13,68,827 million litres (ML) of water at 6 am on Wednesday, October 7, with the reservoirs at 94.57 per cent of their total useful live storage, according to the latest report from the Hydraulic Engineer's Department's Master Control Centre at Bhandup Complex.
The combined useful live storage capacity of the seven reservoirs is 14,47,363 ML. The latest water stock is lower than the 14,33,480 ML recorded on the same date in 2025, when the reservoirs were at 99.04 per cent of their useful live storage. In 2024, the lakes held 14,31,147 ML, or 98.88 per cent of useful live storage.
The combined water stock of Upper Vaitarna, Modak Sagar, Tansa and Middle Vaitarna stood at 6,94,582 ML, or 91.76 per cent of their useful live storage.
Upper Vaitarna recorded a water level of 603.27 metres, against its full supply level (FSL) of 603.51 metres and lower drawdown level (LDL) of 595.44 metres. Its live storage stood at 2,27,047 ML, or 96.60 per cent of its useful live storage. The lake recorded no change in level over the past 24 hours and received no rainfall on Tuesday. Its total rainfall stood at 3,896 mm.
