The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched the National Deworming Day campaign through its health department, distributing deworming tablets to eligible children aged between one and 19 years across its civic area.
According to KDMC officials, Mayor Harshali Vijay Chaudhary inaugurated the campaign at Maharshi Raghunath Kadam School in Umbarde, near Kalyan. Deworming tablets were also distributed through schools, anganwadi centres and health centres, with local corporators participating in the initiative.
The campaign aims to improve children's health, reduce worm infections and promote healthy physical development. According to the civic body, 1,81,848 beneficiaries had received deworming tablets as of October 27.
KDMC has scheduled a mop-up round for November 3 to ensure that eligible children who missed the initial dose can receive the tablets. The children can approach their respective schools, anganwadi centres or health centres to avail themselves of the dose, the civic body said.
