NCP postpones Nashik camp amid Maharashtra drought, asks ministers and MLAs to visit affected areas

The ruling Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra has postponed its camp scheduled to be held in Nashik on September 27, citing the drought-like situation prevailing in parts of the state.

The decision comes as farmers and residents in affected areas face difficulties due to the prevailing conditions. The party said its leadership had decided that holding a meeting or organisational camp at this time would not be appropriate while people were dealing with the situation.

NCP asks ministers and MLAs to visit affected areas

NCP president and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar took the decision to postpone the Nashik camp, according to a party release.

Following the decision, all ministers and MLAs from the party, along with guardian ministers, have been asked to visit drought-affected areas in their respective districts. They have also been directed to meet farmers and assess the problems they are facing.

The party said the focus should be on understanding the situation on the ground and responding to the concerns of people in affected areas rather than proceeding with the scheduled organisational programme.

Party representatives directed to participate in relief work

Pawar has directed all NCP representatives to immediately get involved in relief work, according to the release.

The party said its representatives should work in coordination with local communities and assess the assistance required in areas affected by the drought-like conditions. The move is aimed at ensuring that concerns raised by farmers and other residents are addressed at the local level.

The postponement of the Nashik camp also reflects the party's decision to shift its immediate focus towards relief-related activities, rather than holding the scheduled organisational gathering.

Workers asked to reach out to farmers

NCP office-bearers and workers have also been instructed to reach out to farmers, understand their problems and help ensure that immediate assistance reaches those in need.

The party said its workers should remain engaged with affected communities and gather information about the difficulties being faced by farmers. The instructions cover party workers and office-bearers across districts where the drought-like situation has affected people.

The NCP said it was not appropriate to organise a meeting or camp when farmers and the common people were facing difficulties due to the prevailing situation. Pawar has decided to stand by farmers, the party said.

Nashik camp postponed amid focus on ground-level assessment

The NCP camp in Nashik was scheduled for September 27 and was expected to bring together the party's representatives for organisational discussions. However, the party has now decided to postpone the event in view of the situation in the state.

With ministers, MLAs and guardian ministers being asked to visit affected areas, the party leadership has called for greater engagement with farmers and local communities.

The NCP has also asked its organisational machinery to remain focused on relief efforts and ensure that the concerns of affected farmers are brought to the attention of the authorities concerned.
