Neena Gupta and Vivian Richard's daughter Masaba (20) has expressed a desire to follow her mother's footsteps and become an actress. Neena, however, is not supportive of her daughter's decision. Said Neena, "I don't want my daughter to be an actress. I have gone through it all and know what it entails. I know her friends want to be a part of tinsel town, but who doesn't want to be?" She added, "Masaba is at a stage where she is trying to figure out what to do. She feels acting is an option. But she still has a year to go at SNDT University where she is studying fashion designing."
Says a source, "Of late, Masaba has been accompanying her mother to film events. She also has a lot of friends who are star daughters, including Sonakshi, Shatrughan Sinha's daughter, who has also set her sights on acting. Likewise, Masaba too wants to be an actress." The source added, "Now that there are a lot of actors with non-conventional looks in B-Town, Masaba feels there is room for her as well."
Neena had defied norms and created a scandal when she decided to have a child out of wedlock with Vivian Richards, the legendary West Indian cricketer. Last year, Neena wed Delhi-based chartered accountant Vivek Mehra, but she says Masaba will always remains her top priority. Masaba has been in touch with her father Viv and his family.
