The card can be used on multiple transport platforms across the country. But it’s not been made mandatory yet
The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) state buses has received an overwhelming response with over one lakh registrations in a week.
"This number is not just a figure, it is concrete evidence of migration pushing towards digital transformation of ST [state transport]," Maharashtra transport minister and chairman of MSRTC, Pratap Sarnaik, said.
The NCMC card can be used on multiple transport bodies across the country and even at outlets. The MSRTC has also clarified that "Until 80 per cent concession holder passengers are not registered under this scheme, the smart card will not be made mandatory."
