Opposes gangster's candidature for forthcoming Assembly polls and wants one of its members to contest
Gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli's ambitions of becoming an MLA received a jolt when the Pandavputra gang opposed his candidature for the forthcoming Assembly elections from central Mumbai.
The Pandavputra gang that earlier owed allegiance to Gawli wants to be politically active and wants one of its members to contest the polls from the constituency.
Pandavputra's opposition to Gawli's candidature has taken the Crime Branch by surprise. It was assumed that Gawli would have a free run during the Assembly elections.

Panga: There is a major tussle between former allies Arun Gawli and the Pandavputra gang for the central Mumbai seat. |
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria confirmed that there is a major rift between members of the Pandavputra gang and Gawli for the central Mumbai seat.
"We are probing the details, especially after a major fight erupted between the two groups outside a courtroom recently," said Maria.
AlliancesGawli has the strong backing of his childhood friend and associate Sunil Ghate. Daddy, as Gawli is affectionately known, had also struck an alliance with Chhota Rajan's right-hand-man D K Rao for support.
Rao has been entrusted with the responsibility of recruiting members for the gang. He has already recruited dozens of robbers in the last few years who have graduated into shooters.
Crime branch officials see the Gawli-Rajan alliance as a strategic move to garner moolah from the cash-rich central Mumbai real estate and pose a major challenge to the D Company.
