You gnash your teeth, mutter a curse and continue to tolerate poor roads. But, why? That's the burning question around 40 youngsters are asking Mumbaikars. Overnight, the group took to arterial roads between south Mumbai and Virar and sprayed a puzzling graffiti around potholes and on uneven roads - question marks.

With the graffiti, explained a youth who was part of the initiative, the group wants to ask two questions: who's responsible for poor roads and why don't citizens take them to task over it? "There are multiple agencies involved in the maintenance of roads, but none of them is bothered about the needs of the common man." The group wishes to remain anonymous to keep the focus on the issue at hand and avoid any backlash.

Three youngsters, who are also in charge of the initiative in the western suburbs, began with potholes on the road leading to the Kalina campus of Mumbai University at 11.45 pm yesterday. Thereafter, they moved to the north-bound stretch of the Western Express Highway (WEH). The group claimed to have taken their initiative to south Mumbai, Vasai, Virar and other parts of the western suburbs till 4 am. They plans to revisit the areas in which it sprayed graffiti, and take videos, to highlight corruption in road works.
