Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has expressed hope that candidates preparing for Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examinations could receive positive news on government recruitment in the coming days following a discussion with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about their concerns.
In a post on X on Friday, October 9, Thackeray said he had held a detailed discussion with the Chief Minister after meeting MPSC aspirants in Pune on October 5. He said Fadnavis had responded positively to the issues raised by the students and expressed hope that their expectations would be addressed soon.
Thackeray also urged the aspirants to remain patient while awaiting further developments on recruitment-related matters.
Recalling his meeting with MPSC aspirants in Pune earlier this week, Thackeray said he had assured them that he would convey their concerns and expectations to the Chief Minister.
"When I met the MPSC activist students in Pune on 5 October 2026, I had assured you that I would speak to the Chief Minister about your concerns and your legitimate expectations," Thackeray said in his post.
He added that he had since discussed the matter with Fadnavis in detail and believed the government was receptive to the students' demands.
"I sensed that he is entirely positive about it as well. And I expect that in the coming few days, there will be good news regarding the jobs for MPSC students. Therefore, the students should also exercise patience," he said.
However, Thackeray did not specify the recruitment measures discussed during the meeting or provide details of any decisions taken by the government. His statement indicated an expectation of positive developments rather than a formal announcement of new appointments.
Thackeray also highlighted the difficulties faced by young people preparing for competitive examinations and seeking government employment. He noted that many aspirants leave their hometowns and families to prepare for examinations and pursue job opportunities.
"When I see young men and women toiling tirelessly, leaving behind their home district, taluka, their own home, and their families in pursuit of jobs, it tugs at my heartstrings," he said.
Meanwhile, thousands of students preparing for MPSC examinations have gathered near the S.M. Joshi Bridge in Pune as a protest that has been continuing for the past week draws more participants. Some aspirants and Youth Congress workers have also joined a hunger strike.
The protest entered its eighth day on Thursday, October 8. The students are demanding the resignation and removal of MPSC chairman Vivek Bhimanwar. They are also seeking greater transparency in MPSC and other government recruitment examinations, timely recruitment, and measures to prevent question paper leaks and other irregularities in the examination process.
