Operations from the airport's domestic terminal are gradually shifting to Terminal 2 (International terminal), and while 1B terminal is fully functional after operations of the national carrier Air India shifted, terminal 1A is handling only Go Air arrivals. However, passengers arriving at this terminal are furious with inconvenience they have been facing.

According to passengers, rickshaw drivers parked outside terminal 1A are charging nothing less than Rs 300 for a travel that less than a kilometer. Spurthi Gowda, a frequent flier, said, "I usually land at T2 but last week when I landed at 1A, I had a rickshaw driver demand Rs 400 for dropping me to Santacruz west. Despite the presence of security guards, the driver offered a vague reason for charging the amount." While pre-paid taxis are available to passengers, some of them say they don't see why they should pay a higher fare for a taxi when they can get to their destination in a rickshaw.

Karsihma Mehta, a Vile Parle resident who flew in Jabalpur into Mumbai last week, said, "Why should I take a taxi when a three-wheeler is preferable to me? The police need to take action against errant drivers." Jet Airways is reportedly likely to shift to T2 from February. Other airlines like Indigo, SpiceJet and GoAir will shift by year end.
