Nine days after 29 year-old Rozy D'Souza (name changed) was allegedly molested by a Pravin Vaghela, a 20 year-oldu00a0 ward boyu00a0at St George Hospital, Fort, MRA Marg police arrested Vaghela. D'Souza was visiting her husband at the hospital.u00a0

Ward boy Pravin Vaghela was arrested by the MRA Marg police.

Vaghela was absconding since the case was registered on January 3. D'Souza was allegedly molested on January 2 around 8.30 pm.

This is the second such case at a government-run hospital in 15 days. On December 29,u00a0 Prabhakar Surve (55), Vinod More (45) and Rahul Tambe (30) had been arrested by the JJ Marg police station on charges of molestation.u00a0 While Surve is an ambulance driver, More is a ward boy and Tambe is the son of a retired nurse at the hospital.

Husband fell off a train
On January 1, Rozy's husband Nickson Francis Dsouza, had come to Mumbai from Bengaluru to visit his brother staying in Mumbai. Rozy says, "He was travelling in a train from Dadar to CST in the morning. At Parel station, his foot slipped and he injured his right hand. He was then rushed to St George hospital by the police."

After being informed about the accident, Rozy made her way to Mumbai. "On January 2, when I was at the hospital, ward boy Pravin asked me to follow him. He said he would show me a place to spend the night at the hospital. When we reached the second floor, he molested me in a dark isolated corner before I knew what was happening. When I shouted, he threatened to kill my husband by giving him poison, if I complained to anyone," she said.

Hospital unhelpful
After Rozy complained to her husband, the couple submitted a written complaint to the hospital authorities on January 3. According to the police, instead of taking any action, hospital authorities forcibly discharged her husband even though his wound had not healed completely.

The duo thenu00a0 filed a complaint at the MRA Marg police station on January 6.

Incidentally, the victim has represented India in running competitions at the National level and currently runs a rehabilitation centre at Bengaluru.

Police help victims
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Anil Mahabole, told media, "We have arrested the ward boy."

The police have admitted D'Souza back to the hospital and provided them with police security.

Meanwhile, Rozy is impressed with the MRA Marg police's conduct. "When I went to the station to lodge a complaint, I was first offered food because they realised that I had not eaten since the ordeal. The cops also gave me Rs 1,000 to manage my expenses," she said.
