A fire broke out during the early hours of Monday, May 4, at a power distribution unit in Dnyaneshwar Nagar of Wagle Estate in Thane (West). The fire outbreak in Thane prompted a swift response from emergency services.
According to the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the incident was reported at approximately 2:55 am.
As per the officials, the blaze occurred at a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (Mahavitaran) electrical distribution point (DP) located near a police chowki in the area.
Soon after receiving the information, the fire brigade teams rushed to the spot with one fire tender and a rescue vehicle. Along with the fire brigade, personnel from Mahavitaran were also present to assist in managing the situation and ensuring safety protocols were followed.
Officials confirmed that the fire was brought under control and completely extinguished by around 3:20 AM. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire, and further investigation is expected.
A fire broke out in an open ground in a village in Navi Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, and there were no casualties in the incident, an official said, reported PTI.
Scrap materials dumped in an open ground caught fire in Bhandarli village around 2:40 pm, he said.
Teams from the Airoli, Koparkhairane and Nerul fire departments rushed to the scene with water browsers, and fire engines from the Thane Municipal Corporation were also deployed, the official said, reported PTI.
While no injuries were reported in the incident, efforts were underway to douse the flames, he said, adding that the cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.
In another incident, a fire broke out in construction material stored near the premises of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in south Mumbai on Saturday, though no injuries were reported in the incident, officials said, reported PTI.
The blaze was reported at the worksite of Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) close to Kalyan-end of platform number 18 of the sprawling terminus, a Central Railway spokesperson said, reported PTI.
RLDA is constructing a new Divisional Railway Manager's office as a part of CSMT World Class Station project.
"The blaze, which was confined to construction material kept at the site near the railway terminus, was brought under control by the Fire Brigade. Cooling operations are underway to prevent further flare-up," an official said, reported PTI.
