The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) staged a cartoon-based protest at Nitin Company in Thane on Wednesday, raising concerns over alleged discrepancies in voter lists and the handling of objections filed by voters.
The protest was organised on behalf of Swapnil Mahindrakar, Thane city president of the MNS's Public Interest and Legal Department. Using the slogan "A drought of transparency in the temple of democracy", the party sought to draw attention to the Election Commission's functioning and the need for greater transparency in the electoral process.
Through the cartoon, the MNS highlighted concerns over alleged errors in voter lists, the redressal of complaints and the accountability of authorities responsible for conducting elections.
The party said accurate voter lists and timely action on complaints were essential to ensure that every eligible citizen could exercise their right to vote and maintain public trust in the electoral process.
The MNS also called on the concerned authorities to address voters' grievances and clarify doubts surrounding the election process.
Speaking on the issue, Mahindrakar said the Election Commission must ensure that elections are conducted transparently and that every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right.
