Thane Municipal Corporation announces its 31st annual marathon on August 10, check details here

The 31st Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Annual Marathon will take place on August 10, 2025, officials said while sharing the details of the event on Wednesday.

According to the Thane civic officials, this year, the marathon will use time-technology for 21 km races for men and women, as well as 10 km races for participants aged 18 and above. The event is being held under the slogan "Marathon of Thane… Power of Youth" and is expected to see over 25,000 runners, including national and international athletes.

Additional Commissioner Sandeep Malvi urged municipal staff, journalists, and citizens to actively participate in the event.

A press conference was held on Wednesday with Deputy Commissioner Umesh Birari, Meenal Palande, and Chief Medical Officer Dr Prasad Patil in attendance.

The officials said that the marathon will start at 6:30 AM from the TMC headquarters square and will have 12 different race categories.

Registrations:

- Offline: 13,860 participants

- Under 12 years: Boys 3 km - 2,378, Girls 3 km - 2,051

- Under 15 years: Boys 5 km - 4,641, Girls 5 km - 4,018

- Under 18 years: Boys 10 km - 965

- Over 60 years: Women 1 km - 22, Men 1 km - 11

- Corporate Run 1 km - 14 participants

- Online: 1,850 participants

- Men 21 km - 610, Women 21 km - 190

- Men 10 km (18+) - 730, Women 10 km (16+) - 320

Corporate Run:

- A 1 km race will be held for municipal staff and elected representatives, who are expected to participate in large numbers.

Other arrangements:

- Zumba sessions will be organised before the race for warm-ups.

- Transport buses will be provided for school students participating in the marathon.

- Special local train services will run from Badlapur to Thane at 5:00 AM and back at 1:00 PM on 10 August for participants.

Prizes:

- Total prize money: Rs 10,38,900

- 21 km race winners: 1st - Rs 1,00,000, 2nd - Rs 75,000, 3rd - Rs 50,000, 4th - Rs 30,000. Attractive prizes are also for positions 5-10.

- 10 km (18+) winners: 1st - Rs 25,000, 2nd - Rs 20,000, 3rd - Rs 15,000, 4th - Rs 10,000, with prizes for 5-10 positions.

- 10 km (under 18), 5 km (under 15), and 3 km (under 12) winners will also receive cash prizes and medals.

- Over 60s winners: Men - Rs 5,000, Women - Rs 3,000 for 1st place.
